This one year practical course provides you with the opportunity to study a wide range of art and design. You will develop visual and practical skills to help you to further study and into creative occupations. This course is ideal for you if you are aged 16 and above including mature students. On this course you will work on projects using the following subject areas: Photography, Graphics, Drawing, Painting, 3D and Sculpture, Textiles, Fashion and Print. You are not expected to have previous experience in all of these areas of study but an ability to draw and a good sense of colour are important. Students can expect a programme of study that extends beyond the art and design course. This is likely to include Functional Skills (or GCSE) English and Maths where a Level 2 or GCSE Grade C or above is yet to be achieved. A Tutorial takes place each week and students will complete a study programme of Work Experience, Safeguarding (Keeping yourself and others safe in work and in your personal life); Understanding Equality and Diversityand Community based activities. Art and Design Students usually present an end of year art show and contribute to exhibitions during the year. This course normally starts in September but it is possible to join the course after this point and this would be discussed and agreed in an interview.
