This course is designed to provide a broad understanding of the basic principles and practices of hoticulture. It is taught with a balance of both practical and theoretical learning, and will develop extensive knowledge and skills in gardening, landscaping and other plant based green industries. At the end of the course students will have a good knowledge of horticultural practices with a range of practical skills and be ready to work in a variety of sectors and have a good understanding of the importance of amenity horticulture and be qualified to help in the maintenance of plants in nurseries and gardens. Students will need to provide protective overalls, work gloves and steel toe-capped boots; all protective equipment will be inspected by the course instructor. Practical clothing suitable for the weather condition is necessary at all times. An up-to-date tetanus injection is recommended.
