BTEC Extended Diploma in Construction and the Built Environment (QCF) (Level 3)

The BTEC Extended Diploma in Construction is a two year full time attended qualification that is designed to meet the needs of learners who are not working in the construction industry and considering to build a career in this industry. Attendance is 2.5 days/week over 34 weeks/year. The course offers candidates three construction pathways: Construction; Civil Engineering and Building Services Engineering. All three pathways entail studying nine units over the first year; four units are generic to all pathways whilst the remaining five units are specific to the candidates’ pathway chosen. The second year of study consists of a further nine units all of which are subject specific to the pathway chosen. For those learners who are considering a career in quantity surveying; structural engineering or architecture/design the curriculum in the second year of study offers additional subjects maths (AS level) and art (Level 3).

Entry requirements

Candidates will be expected to arrive to college with pens, pencils (HB 2H and 4H), calculator (preferably casio), large 450 and 600/300 set squares, protractor, eraser and a folder for notes and their portfolio of work.
