Royal Academy of Culinary Arts Chef Apprenticeship Levels 1, 2 and 3

UPDATED 20150527 09:18:52

This new programme is a four year course aimed at aspiring chefs aged between 16 and 19 years old or 19 and 24 years old. The Royal Academy of Culinary Arts Chef Apprenticeship is a pioneering approach to deliver comprehensive training to trainee chefs whilst enabling them to work in the finest establishments in the UK. Following an extensive interview cycle the successful candidates for each academic year will be placed onto the first year of the WKC Professional Chef Diploma. During the first year, each student will study on a full time basis, matching the qualification aims listed under the Professional Chef Diploma. Throughout the year, the College chef lecturing team will monitor, test and assess each student and create a final recommended list of potential students to progress onto the second year of the Royal Academy of Culinary Arts Chef Apprenticeship. The important point of difference for the Royal Academy of Culinary Arts Chef Apprenticeship is the standard of employer and establishment at which the Apprentice is employed during their second, third and final year of training; as well as the dedicated additional elements of learning which form part of the curriculum alongside the delivery techniques and specialist components undertaken uniquely at WKC. This training will include the operation of our own in-house Artisan Bakery (mentored by leading industry expert Richard Bertinet); our daily working butchery and fishmonger kitchen areas with our strong links to organic farms, fisheries and estates throughout the UK; and the specialist teaching of patisserie and confectionery alongside a leading chocolatier and an MCA awarded Pastry Chef Lecturer. The cuisine sessions will be delivered by specialist lecturers from within the WKC Culinary Arts Team and Academicians will also be invited to deliver specific lessons throughout each year. You will also undertake Functional Skills in English, Maths and ICT as part of your studies.
