This course focuses on practical activity but includes some written theory and portfolio building, consists of the following units: CSA-L1Core01 Health, safety and welfare in the construction and associated industries. CSA-L2Core04 Understanding information, quantities and communication with others. CSA-L1Core03 Knowledge of construction technology. CSA-L1Occ11 Prepare and use carpentry and joinery power tools. CSA-L2Occ40 Set up and operate cutting and shaping machinery. CSA-L2Occ59 Produce setting out details for routine joinery products. CSA-L2Occ60 Mark out from setting out details for routine joinery products. CSA-L2Occ61 Manufacture routine joinery products. At this intermediate level, working in our simulated workshop environment, you will learn a wide variety of practical skills (and theoretical knowledge) which will prepare you for working in a Joinery workshop. Items of joinery to make are: doors, windows, frames, linings, units and fitments and staircases. There will be a number of theory assessments with a final practical assignment to complete the qualification. Every learner at Central Sussex College who is under 19 will undertake a personal Study Programme designed to develop them academically, practically and personally. Study Programmes contain 3 essential elements: Subject Course Vocational or chosen Academic subject, usually studied for 12 16 hours a week. English and Maths Every learner will work towards Level 2 English and Maths (C grade equivalent).
