Bench Joinery Diploma - Level 3

You will gain a nationally recognised qualification which will prepare you for entry into the Joinery industry at an advanced level. This course is ideal for young people who are not employed in the trade, as it will provide theoretical knowledge and practical skills to enable to gain employment in the industry or a NVQ. This course focuses on practical activity but includes some written theory and portfolio building, consists of the following units: CSA-L1Core01 Health, safety and welfare in the construction and associated industries. CSA-L3Core07 Analysing technical information, quantities and communication with others. CSA-L3Core08 Analysing the construction industry and the built environment. CSA-L3Occ135 Set up and operate woodworking machinery to create curved work. CSA-L3Occ136 Manufacture shaped joinery products. CSA-L3Occ137 Set and mark out for shaped joinery products. At this intermediate level, working in our simulated workshop environment, you will learn a wide variety of practical skills (and theoretical knowledge) which will prepare you for working in a Joinery workshop. Items of joinery to make are: doors, windows, frames, linings, units and fitments and staircases. There will be a number of theory assessments with a final practical assignment to complete the qualification. Every learner at Central Sussex College who is under 19 will undertake a personal Study Programme designed to develop them academically, practically and personally. Study Programmes contain 3 essential elements: Subject Course Vocational or chosen Academic subject, usually studied for 12 16 hours a week.
