The Level 2 BTEC in ICT is a rigorous specialist vocational programme, with a strong work related emphasis. It offers practical units combined with an extensive range of teaching and learning methods that enhance the learners’ self confidence. A range of disciplines are taught on the course in order to maximise learners’ skills base and improve employability. The learner will also gain an in-depth understanding of how the IT industry is structured, and learn how they can develop a career in this challenging, exciting, dynamic industry. We aim to give your coursework assignments a professional and realistic context. The course also develops creative use of ICT looking at video and audio uses for ICT in workplace. This course offers an opportunity to gain some of the necessary skills required to work in Business and Information Technology. You will use software packages such as Microsoft Office and Photoshop. Learn by doing work based projects where you are required to research, plan and present a ‘live’ project. On the course you will study subjects such as ‘Digital Graphics’, ‘The Online World’ and ‘Installing and Maintaining Hardware’ to improve your knowledge and professionalism in using ICT. In addition to the main qualification you will also be expected to study GCSEs in Maths and English. These are assessed via presentations, assignments and time constrained examinations. The course is made up of 9 units. There is an external examination unit, ‘The Online World’ and two further core units ‘Technology Systems’ and Digital Portfolio’. Other units are chosen from a range to suit the needs of the learners. These might include: Creating Video Computer Networks Digital Graphics Installing and Maintaining Hardware Multimedia Product
