In the AS year you will study a pair of set texts. You will be given the opportunity to undertake independent research and preparation on a particular theme. The coursework consists of a mixture of analytical and creative writing on these texts. In preparation for the AS examination there will be a short anthology which will offer you the opportunity to explore the three major literary genres and a range of non-literary texts. In the A2 year you will study real-life conversation alongside examples of literary talk, focusing on one play text in particular. The aim of this exam unit is to explore the way meanings are constructed, conveyed and interpreted in both drama and speech. The coursework unit offers the opportunity for you to study a range of texts, two of which you will then transform into a different genre or sub-genre. Analytical skills will also be developed by the requirement to produce a commentary. .
