This course is based on the Salters-Nuffield Advanced Biology project. (SNAB) There are four topics in the first year Lifestyle, health and risk (your circulatory system and how lifestyle affects it) Genes and health (how genes are inherited and can malfunction) The voice of the Genome (cell structure, gametes and genetics) Biodiversity and natural resources (a look at organisms other than humans!) There are four topics in the second year On the wild side (ecology, evolution and the influence of climate change) Infection, immunity and forensics (the pathogen/host battle, the genetic code and genetic fingerprinting) Run for your life (the physiology of exercise) Grey matter (a look at your nervous system and how organisms detect stimuli) This is a course where information is learned in contexts which are designed to appeal to you, and the topics are designed to reflect real-world biology.
