This course provides candidates with the knowledge and understanding of the fundamental principles and requirements of environmental technology systems and with the knowledge and skills to install and commission solar thermal hot water systems. Core There are four learning outcomes to this unit. The learner will be able to: 1. Know the fundamental working principles of micro-renewable energy and water conservation technologies. 2. Know the fundamental requirements of building location/building features for the potential to install micro-renewable energy and water conservation systems to exist. 3. Know the fundamental regulatory requirements relating to micro-renewable energy and water conservation technologies. 4. Know the typical advantages and disadvantages associated with micro-renewable energy and water conservation technologies. Install There are four learning outcomes to this unit. The learner will be able to: 1. Plan and prepare for the installation of 'active' solar thermal hot water system. 2. Install solar thermal hot water system components. 3. Test and commission an 'active' solar thermal hot water system. 4. Hand over an 'active' solar thermal hot water system. Know the requirements There are three learning outcomes to this unit. The learner will: 1. Know the requirements for the routine service and maintenance of 'active' solar thermal hot water systems. 2. Know how to diagnose faults in 'active' solar thermal hot water system installations. 3. Know how to rectify faults in 'active' solar thermal hot water system installations.
