English Literature AS/A Level

English Literature at A Level is the detailed study of novels, plays and poetry from a range of countries and eras. The course will enable you to develop an understanding of the significance of cultural and contextual influences on both the reader and the writer. Studying English at Bury College with our highly committed and specialist staff will enable you to develop the rigorous critical skills that are required as you will need to be critical of your own work as well as the work of others. In addition, you will need a commitment to a substantial amount of private reading and independent study. You will also have the chance to go on theatre and cultural visits related to the course.
