BTEC 90 Credit Diploma Creative Media Production (Games Development)

This course offers you the opportunity to explore the area of Media Production. You will encounter and respond to both visual and conceptual challenges. You will develop the necessary skills to progress onto a higher-level course and/or the creative industry. Although largely practical, you will be required to complete an academic unit alongside your creative project work, in year one, which will be supported by presentations, discussions and group seminars. You will study a programme of core units before electing to specialise in your chosen creative area, which you will negotiate with your Personal Tutor, who will support and advise you. Core Units: - Visual Recording in Art and Design - Materials, Techniques and Processes in Art and Design - Ideas and Concepts in Art and Design - Visual Communication in Art and Design - Contextual Influences in Art and Design The course has two pathways: 1. Media Production 2. Games Design Study areas include: - Understanding Video Technology - Film and Video Editing Techniques - Computer Games Design - Web Animation for Interactive Media. Year One The year concentrates on the generation of ideas in response to creative briefs, alongside the development of your practical skills, including 2D and 3D processes. (During term three, choices are encouraged on UCAS applications). Year Two Pathway options are `firmed-up- and specialist projects set. The year focuses on your individual creative potential and chosen specialism, and culminates in a Final Major Project and exhibition. Term one concentrates on UCAS applications.
