Public Services BTEC Diploma level 3 (90 Credits)

The BTEC Level 3 Public Services is a two year full-time course designed to meet the needs of students who wish to pursue a career in one of the Uniformed Services. These include the Armed Services, Police, Fire, Ambulance Services, Rescue Services, Prison Service, Customs & Excise and other Uniformed Public Services. The course aims to give students an in-depth study into a wide range of public service operations and the environment within which they operate. It will also develop the qualities of personal character, interpersonal and social skills which are required by a wide range of public service employers. The course includes physical fitness and leadership components as an important part of its structure. The Extended Diploma course offers a wide range of topics for study. Over the two years of study, learners undertake a number of Core and Option modules including: - Government, Policies and the Public Service - Team Leadership and Team work in the Public Services - International Institutions and Human Rights - Outdoor and Adventurous Expeditions - Skills for Land based / Water based Outdoor Skills - Citizenship and Diversity in the Public Services - Crime and its Effects on Society - Career Planning - The Planning for and Management of Major Incidents - Understanding Discipline within the Uniformed Public Services - Mandatory i week of Work Experience to be undertaken The programme also includes tutorial support and many residential experiences as well as the opportunity to study and obtain additional qualifications.

Name: Public Services BTEC Diploma level 3 (90 Credits) Qualification title: 90-credit Diploma in Public Services (QCF) Qualification type: Assessment Assessment is continuous through a range of methods which may include assignments, projects, case studies and practical exercises. These assessments are monitored through course tutors, employers and by the Lead IV. To pass the course you need to achieve 180 Credits over the two years at either Pass, Merit or Distinction grade. Students should pass all Year 1 core and optional modules to continue on Year 2 of the course. There are no formal examinations.
