A veterinary nursing apprenticeship is the ideal way to earn money whilst gaining a nationally recognised qualification. The provision is open to anyone aged 16+ years provided that you meet current eligibility. You must be fully employed in your chosen career path and hold a genuine interest in your area of work, demonstrating enthusiasm and a strong determination to succeed. You'll need: to be in paid employment with a Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) approved Training Practice and have a minimum of five GCSEs above grade C, including English, mathematics and science; or an equivalent qualification. You'll learn: the operational requirements of a veterinary practice, veterinary nursing duties, physiology and genetics, animal health, wellbeing and husbandry, supporting the supply of veterinary medicines, principles of assisting in the operating theatre and supporting veterinary anaesthesia. Expect: to spend one day each week on campus at Rosewarne and the remaining four days in the workplace with your employer. There are also two block weeks per year of study.
