This qualification is designed to provide learners with an understanding of the importance of play and playwork in children and young people's lives. They will build the knowledge and skills needed when working with children and young people (between the ages of 4 and 16) in a setting whose main purpose is to provide opportunities for freely chosen, self-directed play. It covers a diverse range of job roles: playworker in a holiday or after-school club, playwork development officer, adverture playground supervisor, hospital playworker, manager of a play provision. The course consists of classroom based workshops, projects, assignments, indepentent research and assessor oberservations in your workplace. You need to be in a work placement of 10 hours per week with ideally one term's experience.
