Silversmithing

The course will cover basic Silver Jewellery techniques including piercing, filing, and soldering, texturing, forging, doming, reticulating, oxidising and riveting metal. During the course you will also look at design, purchasing your own precious metals and basic stone setting.

Entry requirements

Students will become responsible for purchasing their own precious metals as the course continues, but in depth support and guidance will be given in advance. This will facilitate students for the future when purchasing precious metals in order to continue making after they have completed the course. Some students do wish to purchase their own tools later in the course and guidance will be given in the first few weeks for anyone wishing to do this, but this is not a requirement. Please bring a note book, pen and pencil to the first class along with some money to purchase silver. All tools and equipment are provided. You may also wish to bring an apron to protect your clothing.
