Spoken by 131 million people in over 30 countries, French is one of the two official languages of the European Union and continues to offer great opportunities for careers and travel. Our courses in French aim to develop your knowledge and understanding of the vocabulary and grammar and the French way of life. The courses will also assist you in speaking confidently, writing and reading French to a level where you can understand and enjoy French TV and radio programmes, read newspaper and magazine articles, and websites, write creatively and engage in conversation with confidence. Internet resources are used extensively in our own facility, together with a variety of methods of teaching. The second year of the course includes the study of both a novel and a film. A French university language student helps you with your spoken French and an exchange takes place each year with our partner school in Gex on the Swiss border.
