Physical Education involves the study of the anatomical, physiological and psychological aspects of sport. You will learn about the role of the major body systems in exercise as well as the personal and social influences upon how sports people train and perform particularly at elite level. Your course will also involve a study of the historical and cultural aspects of sport, including sports administration and links with the media. Each year is made up of 2 distinct units. The coursework incorporates options for students to progress down two of three routes at AS in performance, coaching, or officiating; then to specialise down one of these routes at A2. Students also have the opportunity to be part of a successful exchange to Sweden to experience winter sports and visit a top university that specialises in developing and supporting elite skiers. It is recommended that students choosing this option also follow the level 2 in Sports Leadership.
