UPDATED 20160314 12:54:50

Activ8 Learning deliver the Paediatric First Aid (PFA) qualification accredited through Highfields Awarding Body for Compliance (HABC). This qualification is ideal for those already working or preparing to work within the childcare industry wishing to become a First Aider for the purposes of the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage published by The Department for Education. The Statutory Framework states that ‘at least one person who has a current paediatric first aid certificate must be on the premises at all times when children are present'. The HABC Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid is recognised as a qualification that fulfils this need. PFA accredited qualification provides theoretical and practical training in first aid techniques that are specific to infants aged under 1, and children aged from 1 year old to the onset of puberty. Learners will become familiar with the role of the paediatric first aider and be able to assess and react appropriately to an emergency situation, such as a child or an infant who is unresponsive, has an airway obstruction, has breathing difficulties or is suffering from shock or anaphylaxis, other topics included are fractures, dislocations, injuries to the head, neck, back, eyes, ears or nose, poisoning, bites or stings, burns or scalds, electric shock, minor injuries and chronic medical conditions. This qualification consists of two mandatory units and is typically delivered over a period of 2 days with a minimum contact time of 12 hours.
