The course is modular based and will allow you to explore new and existing technologies with a mixture of theoretical and practical skills. The Extended Diploma follows the same unit structure in the first year as the 90 Credit Diploma including units in: : Health and Safety.: Mechanical Principles.: Pneumatics / Hydraulics.: Engineering Drawing.: Computer Aided Design (CAD): Maths for Technicians.: Using Secondary Machining Techniques to produce components: Business Operations in EngineeringThose who continue onto the second year of the Extended Diploma will also study: : Further Mechanical Principles.: Communications for Technicians.: Engineering Project.: Engineering Measurement Systems.: Installing and Commissioning Equipment.: Monitoring and Fault Diagnosis of Engineering Systems.: Engineering Design.: Mechanical SystemsThe one year 90 Credit Diploma will allow students to gain 90 credits (equivalent to one and a half A Levels) with a maximum grade of Double Distinction Starred (D*D*) carrying 210 UCAS pts. The Extended Diploma provides access to 180 credits (equivalent to three A Levels) with a maximum grade of Triple Distinction Starred (D*D*D*) carrying 420 UCAS pts
