The Level 2 programme is made up of a variety of theoretical and practical units e.g. Investigate employment in the uniformed serve - you will explore the process of applying for a role with the public services. Explore aspects of physical fitne - you will research what levels of fitness are required for the different public services and aim to improve your current level of fitness. Team work and problem solvig - you will work within a team and gain techniques that can be used for problem solving. Map and compas - you will become familiar with the main aspects of map reading and navigation. You will learn how to use compasses route maps and grid references. During the programme you will have direct contact with a range of uniformed public services through presentations, visits and activities. Recent examples include a fitness session with the Royal Marines, laser shooting with the Army, casualty extraction exercise with the Fire and Rescue Service, a talk from the Border Force, Firearms and Crash Investigation presentations from the Police and a trip to the Houses of Parliament. All students without an A*-C grade in English or Maths will be required, as a condition of the programme, to undertake either a GCSE or Functional Skills programme. The pathway followed will be dependent on the grade achieved at GCSE, college diagnostic screening and the intended progression route. On this programme you will learn about the job roles and entry processes required to join the uniformed public services. Upon successful completion, progression will be onto Level 3 Unformed Public Services. The uniformed public services are essential and required by the country to protect the public. Name: Level 2 Entry to Uniformed Public Services Qualification title: Diploma for Entry to the Uniformed Services (QCF) Qualification type: Assessment This programme will be assessed by completing a portfolio of evidence. Each unit will assessed through a variety of different assessment methods which will include written work, observations, discussions and practical assessments. The qualification can be awarded at Pass, Merit, Distinction or Distinction, depending on the consistency of quality in assessment completion. Timetabled hours will in general be from 08.45 - 16.30 over four days per week, however these may change when offsite activities are taking place. You will need to be prepared to take an active role in a variety of outdoor and team activities, as well as classroom based learning throughout the year. This is an academic qualification and has a significant amount of theoretical units therefore learners need to be self-disciplined, organised and prepared to study for approximately four hours a week outside of college time.
