This programme is ideally suited for those with a genuine interest in business enterprise and event management, but who also have the ability and determination to succeed on this academic programme. There is an expectation for all business enterprise and event management students to help out at college open events and fund raising opportunities, both at college and within the local community. This programme provides students with an opportunity to gain an insight into the wide and diverse nature of this growing sector. The programme retains a strong academic base, whilst including practical units and modules. You will need to be confident, self- motivated and a good communicator as this will stand you in good stead for your research work as well as your work placement. You will complete projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands. You will also learn about the employment area you have chosen, and you develop the skills you need to start a career. Students will develop both knowledge and understanding of the business enterprise and event management industries, as well as develop important practical and organisational skills to support their progression. The programme is made up of a variety of practical and theoretical units with each worth a number of credits which will make up your final grade. The programme is made up of 18 units. The following are a sample of the units (it may vary each year): The Innovative Entrepreneur Business Planning and Pitching Financial Planning and Implementation Launching your Business Vision Planning the Future Strategy of your Business Leadership and Teamwork Market Research and Analysis Working as an Entrepreneur Social Enterprise Managing a Business Event The qualification is equivalent to three A Levels, which means that, on completion of the programme, you can either choose to go into employment or into Higher E

Name: Level 3 Business Enterprise and Event Management Qualification title: BTEC Diploma in Enterprise and Entrepreneurship (QCF) Qualification type: Assessment Assessment is throughout the year for both practical and theory units using a variety of assessment methods and styles. Each assignment will be graded at Pass (P), Merit (M) or Distinction (D) level and contributes to the unit and overall programme grades, which could be PPP MMM, DDD for each A Level equivalent, or a mixed profile, e.g. PMM etc. Each of the units will have between three to five assignments. These assignments may be reports, presentations, practical assessments or research projects. Attendance in the College is an average of 16 hours per week of contact time. In addition to this, it is expected for students to complete a further 8-12 hours of independent study both in college and at home.
