Level 3 Construction and Built Environment

This full-time programme is run over three days per week, and will require some additional work outside of College hours. 35 hours work experience in the industry will be included in the programme. You will have the opportunity to study the following units over two years: Health, Safety and Welfare Surveying in Construction and Civil Engineering Sustainable Construction Setting out processes Mathematics Measurement, Estimating and Tendering Science and Materials Structural Mechanics Construction Technology and Design Building Surveying Building Technology Building Regulations and Control Project Management CADD Graphical Detailing Further Mathematics Mechanical Services Design Procedures Site visits will take place over the duration of the programme, and guest speakers from industry often come to the classes. This programme will equip you with an excellent understanding of the construction and built environment sector. Following successful completion, students may progress onto Higher Education or study at degree level. Alternatively students can continue with a professional Apprenticeship. For students wishing to go straight into employment, there is the opportunity to continue to study an HNC, part-time Eastleigh College. Many students have gained employment with local authorities and building control in a role such as an architect, building surveyor, quantity surveyor, project manager, civil engineer and structural engineer. Salaries can start at 20,000 GBP for a trainee, rising to 60,000 GBP as a qualified professional. Students have recently gained employment at Mace, Mansells, Barratts, Blanchard Wells, SC4, Eastleigh Borough Council, Hampshire County Council, New Forest District Council and Trant.
