This course provides a work based learning route into employment for the Hairdressing industry. This qualification is nationally recognised and assists you with your employment in the hairdressing industry as a junior stylist, carrying out treatments including basic cutting, styling, colouring and perming. The course is based in the College Hair and Beauty Department in both Boston and Spalding. Both have fully equipped hairdressing salons that are open to the public. The course is broken down into a number of units which cover a full range of practical hairdressing skills and essential knowledge, including- Ensure your own actions reduce the risks to health and safety, Give clients a positive impression of yourself and your organisation, Advise and consult with clients, Cut hair using basic techniques, Shampoo, condition and treat the hair and scalp, Style, dress and finish hair using basic techniques, Change hair colour, Perm and neutralise hair. Plus Personal development skills such as- Customer care, Communication, Professionalism, Portfolio building and referencing, Individual and group work. As part of your course you will also benefit from additional courses included within the framework, these are- Functional skills in Maths and English at Level 1. These have been produced to response to employers for more people to have these skills, and therefore forms an integral part of an apprenticeship framework. Employee rights and responsibilities
