This course will develop your practical skills in visual and technical Photography using both film and digital cameras. As a Photography student you will have access to the Photography Studio, Black and White Dark Room, Film and Television Studio, Ceramics and Print Studios and Apple Mac Suites. Completion of Year 1 is equivalent to 1 A-Level, Year 2 is equivalent to 3 A-Levels. During this course you will complete a series of practical projects using both Black and White wet processes and digital photography, and manipulation using a variety of techniques and processes. You will study many areas of Photography including- Studio Work, Landscape Photography and Portraiture. You will learn about how other photographers produce their work, how to research in order to generate ideas and how to analyse photographic work. You will develop your visual awareness and ability. There are no examinations on this course, instead you will be graded on each project and these marks will add together to give you your final grade. You will also have the opportunity to study Level 2 Functional Skills in English and Mathematics, if you did not achieve these grades in prior education. In addition to the main course you will also study Personal and Social Development, this builds on employability skills and will increase your chances of obtaining work in the future. Part of this is developing an Individual Learning Plan to assist your personal educational needs. As a Photography student you will have access to all of our Art, Design and Media facilities, which include a Photography Studio, Black and White Dark Room, Developing Suite, A Film and Television Studio, Video Editing Suites, Ceramics and Print Studios and Apple Mac Suites.
