This course enables you to obtain an internationally recognised advanced Diploma qualification in Beauty Therapy which has given previous students the employment opportunities and skills needed to work in commercial Beauty Salons as therapists and senior therapists and for those students who want more adventure, the career options of working in prestigious Health Spas on land or at sea on Cruise Liners. The Beauty department at Boston College works in partnership with a prestigious skin care company (Dermalogica) to deliver unique skincare training in anyone of our three fully equipped training salons, which are open as commercial salons to the general public. The College commercial salons run several times a week and will include possible evening salon sessions to cater for all. Both practical and theory topics covering a variety of advanced beauty skills such as- Monitor procedures to safely control work operations- Contribute to the planning and implementation of promotional activities- Provide body electrical treatments- Provide facial electrical treatments- Provide body massage treatments- Provide electrical epilation treatments (permanent hair removal)- Carry out massage using pre-blended aromatherapy oils- Provide self-tanning services (manual and spray).Plus a further qualification in- Providing stone therapy treatments. You will also have the opportunity to undertake trade tests for work experience in a prestigious health farm. All learners will be expected to take part in 1-2 full weeks of work experience. Each student will have access to information on study skills and the opportunity to attend study support groups. The average group size is 14-16 students.
