Film Studies is a course that equips you with a wide range of analytical skills related to the moving image. It develops an understanding of the theories and debates that underpin film and cinema. Lessons concentrate on textual analysis, understanding the film and cinema industries and specific movements in film history. In A2 there are two more modules- FM3 Film Research and Development and FM4 Varieties of Film Experience. In A2 the work becomes more theoretical, looking at different approaches to films. Topics include World Cinema, Emotional Response to Popular Cinema, and Single Film Case-Studies (including Fight Club). There is a greater emphasis on research and discussion in A2, applying theories and analysis to a wider range of texts.
