UNIT 4: The emphasis in A2 is very much on individual choice and personal development, obviously with a great deal of help and guidance from your tutor. Your starting point for this unit of coursework may be a very broad given topic but how you approach it is up to you within the constraints of the AQA assessment objectives. (30% of A2 mark - 15% of whole A Level) UNITS 5 or 6:, You can choose between Unit 5 which is a 3,000 word illustrated essay on a topic which interests you, or Unit 6 which is a practical piece of work accompanied by at least a 1,000 word journal. In both these coursework units you choose your subject matter and the quality of your written submission will be taken into account, particularly in Unit 5. Both units of work should show that you are able to appreciate the work of other artists, the contexts in which they were made and how you relate to them. (30% of A2 final mark - 15% of whole A Level) UNIT 7: As with AS Unit 3, the final unit for A2 consists of you choosing a question you like from an exam paper and then producing preparatory work which leads to you producing a final piece in exam conditions. (40% of A2 final mark - 20% of whole A Level)
