Who is the course for? Linked to completing the AS course, this course would suit anyone interested in a career in banking insurance commerce and industry or going on to a related degree course with appropriate entry qualifications. If you have an interest in economic affairs and a desire to explore issues, problems and institutions that affect everyday life. What can it lead to? The course will be part of a package of A level subjects appropriate for university entrance. Students could also gain employment in an organisation at a junior level. Economics provides an excellent foundation for professional careers and higher education courses in business, finance, banking, accountancy, law, insurance, marketing, personnel and management. What will I study? You will learn how to apply economic concepts and theories in a range of contexts and to appreciate their value and limitations in explaining real-world phenomena. You will also be taught how to analyse, explain and evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of the market economy, the role of Government within it and how to participate effectively in society as a citizen, producer and consumer.
