The programme is made up of a combination of qualifications: Level 2 Certificate in Driving Goods Vehicles This qualification helps to put knowledge into practice to improve performance in the workplace. Award in Employment Rights and Responsibilities in the Logistics Industry This ensures Apprentices feel confident with their rights and responsibilities in a working environment. Functional Skills in Maths and English will be integrated into the programme to provide support to ensure that skills are at the appropriate level to take the job forward. Personal Learning and Thinking Skills (PLTS) Generic skills that are essential to life, learning and work, these are integrated into the programme. The Apprentice will spend most of the time working with the employer gaining valuable experience and contributing to the logistics operation. The Apprentice will undertake mandatory units to help them to manage and develop their skills and knowledge in essential areas including: - Preparing for driving - Protecting the van and load - Operating and monitoring van systems - Maneuvering the vehicle in restricted spaces - Obtaining information on collections and deliveries - Transport Regulations and Highway Code Optional units will be selected to develop skills and knowledge in areas that may include: - Loading and unloading of the vehicle - Route planning - Customer service provision - Road safety and fuel efficiency
