UPDATED 20150415 14:53:38

This course will provide you with instruction in ceramic modelling techniques whilst working on your own ideas or from observation of the life model (optional). Techniques will include solid modelling and hollowing out, slab and coil work as well as a basic understanding of human anatomy. The course will also allow the use of other sculpture materials if appropriate to your ideas in negotiation with your tutor. You will have the choice to work from a life model to produce sculptures in ceramic or other materials. This course will also provide you with the underpinning knowledge of the creative art and craft process including sculptural drawing and the use of maquettes. Mastery of the basics will provide a base from which to study in this subject at a higher level. This is a practical course. You will learn through tutor demonstration and presentation, independent practical activities, research to develop ideas and knowledge and by producing a range of artworks. Your tutor will give you verbal feedback during each lesson and written feedback at regular intervals. Throughout the course you will discuss with your tutor what you want to achieve and record it on your individual learning plan (ILP). You will decide with your tutor how long it will take to achieve your goal. This course is non accredited. This course will provide you with the basic knowledge and skills to progress to a higher level of study within this or other art and craft disciplines.
