What will I do on this course? The world of media is rapidly expanding and is the fastest growing area of employment. At AS level you complete a foundation portfolio. This is a practical piece of work based on film where you use new media technologies to produce the opening sequence to a new fiction film. The second part of the course is an exam based on the key concepts of media studies including the textual analysis of a range of media. Production work is a vital part of A level Media Studies worth 50% of the A level and so in the second year of the course you will extend the skills you learnt during your AS year to make an advanced production piece, a pop music video, album artwork and magazine advert. The other part of the A2 course covers more theoretical ideas related to media studies, including a wide range of contemporary issues and debates.
