What will I do on this course? You will study one period study (Britain, 1780- 1886), and one in-depth study, (Nazi Germany, 1933-45) and complete coursework in year two. Period Study In your first year you will study: Parliamentary reform and politics, 1789-1832 Popular protest, 1815-48 The campaigns for social reform, 1815-48. In your second year you will study: The Conservatives in the age of Peel and Disraeli, 1846-1880 The development of Liberalism, 1846-86 Social Reform, 1780-86 Parliamentary reform, 1780-86. In-depth study In your first year you will study: The rise of the Nazi party The main social, economic, cultural and political developments in Germany, 1933-45. In the second year you will study: Support, opposition and resistance in the Third Reich War and defeat Coursework (a 4,000 word study of an aspect of Nazi Germany). What other skills will I gain? You will gain the ability to research, evaluate and provide detailed, accurate and relevant judgements on the studied topics, as well as developing your written and verbal skills to a high level. How will I be assessed? You will be assessed with two exams in your AS year, and one exam and coursework in your A2 year. Where can this course take me? Next step courses: A degree at university in History or a social sciences, humanities or arts subject (combined with other related A Levels). Job/career opportunities: Careers include local government, the civil service, public administration, academic research, teaching, museum and archive work, journalism and law. However, many celebrities including, comedians, TV presenters and not least prime ministers and princes have completed History degrees.
