Photoshop is a computer based image manipulation programme that can be used to adapt and enhance photographs, create digital images, and modify images for sending over the Internet. It is a very exciting creative tool and has a wide range of applications for designers, printmakers, and visual artists. This course will guide you through the Photoshop programme enabling you to understand its capabilities, and to practice what you have learnt between classes on yours, or a friends, computer. Students who have access to a PC or Mac with a Photoshop application already will be at an advantage. However this is not necessary to start the course and students will be advised as to what they specifically require at the beginning of the course. Topics covered will include: Getting started, Opening & Saving Files, Making and Saving Selections, Scanning, Resolution and Image Size, Understanding the Toolbox, Working with Colours and Patterns, Painting Images, Editing Images, Adjusting Colours and Tones, Working with Layers, Creating & Editing Type, Creating Special Effects, Creating Artistic Effects, Basic Printing, Papers & Inks, Photo Retouching, Masks and Channels, Vector Shapes and Clipping Paths.
