UPDATED 20150414 09:46:11

Are you thinking about taking an English GCSE in the academic year 2015/16? Unsure of your current level of English? Want to improve your confidence with English? Come along to this 5 week access course - you will have a screening assessment to determine your starting level, will discuss with the tutor your background in English language detailing strengths and areas that need improving. Meet the tutor and look at what the syllabus will cover. Discuss what a GCSE requires in terms of time and commitment - and how a GCSE English can open the doors to employment and further education. This course aims to prepare you for starting the GCSE class in September. We will be following the Welsh board next term and we will be preparing by looking at skills to do with reading, writing, speaking and listening and critical thinking. Please bring with you any books you are currently reading, and with a sample of your writing - spend ten minutes writing down a description of who you are. We will be looking at planning, proof reading and structuring sentences and paragraphs, as well as how to read and understand a text.
