The course is intended as a continuation from the beginners course in oil painting, although those who are 'rusty' and feel a need to start again, would be welcome. This could equally suit a student with some experience in another medium. Colour theory, choices of brushes, painting surfaces, and which oil paint to use, will be a starting point for all students. From here, mark-making and subject matter will be explored. Paints, brushes, and canvas boards will be discussed and compared; it is not necessary to buy brushes or paints before the course begins as these will be discussed at the first lesson, and some materials will be provided or supplied for a small charge during the course. By the end of this course participants will be able to: Practice and apply colour mixes onto a range of supports. Follow through a theme to produce personal compositions as well as learning from the Masters.
