Who is the course for: This course provides a foundation for employment or further and higher education. This advanced course in health & social care and early years is designed for those wishing to follow a career in the caring services. Course Content: Students will study the following nine units in year one. Developing effective communication in health & social care Equality, diversity and rights in health & social care Health, safety and security in health & social care Development through the life stages Anatomy and physiology for health & social care Personal and professional development in health & social care Psychological perspectives for health & social care Caring for children and young people Safeguarding adults and promoting independence. Work experience is an integral part of the course and students will be assisted to find a work placement. Study Methods: Lectures, discussions, independent research and practical tasks. How is the course assessed: Assessment for each unit includes assignments and practical work. Students will also complete a functional skills test. Where next, Further Studies: Students can go on to study a Foundation Degree or degree at university. Where next, Job Opportunities: This course is a good basis for work in some areas of residential care, health care or community work. Students can also work whislt studying by completing an apprenticeship.
