Who is the course for: This course is for those who wish to develop their skills as actors or dancers. When enrolling on the course learners will choose whether they want to study on the acting strand or the dance strand. On both strands learners will learn about the performing arts sector and will also provide learners with the qualifications to enter higher education or work in the industry. Course Content: Yr 1 course = 90 credits Yr 2 course = additional 90 credits (total 180 credits) Acting pathway, course units include: Acting techniques Vocal skills Theatre in education Script writing Drama improvisation Musical theatre Singing Physical theatre. Dance pathway, course units include: Contemporary dance techniques Classical ballet techniques Jazz dance Urban dance Choreography Physical theatre Musical theatre Dance performance. Study Methods: Study on the course is achieved within guided learning hours at the campus. You will be given assignments by your tutors, which will clearly explain the evidence required to pass the units that you are studying. You will then work together with your tutors, and others in your group, in order to develop your skills to the highest level possible. All of your assignments will have a vocational context, which means that you are preparing for reallife situations in the industry. You will also be expected to independently research, using a wide range of different sources. How is the course assessed: Your work will be assessed by your tutors, and you will be graded at pass, merit or distinction against the grading criteria that make up the units that you will be studying. You will be given vocational assignments by your tutors that will allow us to assess your work for particular units.
