The maths bridging programme is delivered as part-time provision, and those participating want to attend one day a week on an HND/C Engineering course which will begin in the Autumn. Learners’ may have a lack of Mathematical continuity over a period of time and hence wish to up-date their knowledge and skills giving them the best possible chance of success on their full time course. The aim of this revision course is to reintroduce the necessary basic Mathematical knowledge, techniques and confidence learners’ need to enable progression on to the HND/C. At the start of the course the delivery may be at level 2 and by the end the learners’ will be working at level 3, appropriate for the entry level needed on the HND/C course. The delivery of the material and concepts is via a mixture of lectures and workshops designed to provide underpinning knowledge and skills. The emphasis is on the learner developing problem solving skills at a pace and level which is suitable to the individual learner, where possible, within an environment of learning together. Assessments will be set regularly to monitor progress. The course will be delivered in July, over one day for three weeks, each day consisting of two three hour classes.
