Mechanical Engineering Technology - Level 1 (EMTA)

The course is divided equally between classroom and workshop activities; The student will be working with traditional engineering handtools, files, hacksaws, and drilling machines etc. Students will progress on this course to use machines such as the Lathe and Milling machine. Modern Arc Welding techniques will be introduced in this course. In the classroom the use, type of materials used, production techniques and engineering drawings will be studied. This course may lead to an Engineering Apprenticeship, employment or further study.
