Management and leadership skills have a major impact on the development, productivity and performance of organisations of all sizes and across all sectors of the economy. The aim of this framework is to up skill the existing workforce to meet the increasing demand for new management practices and a range of skills. In today’s fast-moving competitive environment there is a need to continue to drive up the performance of the best and to address weaknesses in management and leadership that could hold back productivity and performance. It will provide a platform to progress individual’s careers in Management ensuring that successful completers have the job skills and knowledge applicable to their role, and the underlying skills to be able to operate as an effective employee and add value to the organisation. This course which is designed to develop a wide range of transferable skills and to contribute towards addressing specific skills gaps in the Management team. This includes the opportunity to develop maths English and IT skills. It will provide clear direction and development for staff operating in a supervisory or management position. There will be the opportunity for participants to develop their leadership skills including self-management, relationship building, negotiating and influencing skills. Key and current issues will be explored such as change management skills and the ability to manage the challenges of globalisation. Often it is the day to day management of people that provides the greatest issue therefore coaching and mentoring skills will be explored as well as how to delegate and manage challenge.
