You must have some previous learning of the language of approximately 30 hours tuition or the equivalent experience of speaking and reading in the language. Your level of language skill will be assessed by means of a test and an interview prior to enrolment. This course covers reading, writing, listening and speaking. Grammar is taught in an integrated way. The emphasis is on the communicative method of learning. Formal instruction, pair group work, listening, reading and comprehension exercises, role plays, games, discussions and tutorials are all part of the course. Use is also made of visual and audio materials. Past exam papers are used in class activities to help prepare students for the final Edexcel exams, held in May and June. All four language skills are assessed. A minimum of 3 hours home study per week is required.
