Intermediate Apprenticeship in Warehousing and Storage

UPDATED 20151126 11:42:24

The WAS Apprenticeship is a blend of classroom-based and workplace competency-based qualifications, which ensure all learners understand and can implement the fundamental principles of modern warehousing processes. There are a number of pathways through the qualification; our industry experienced and vocationally competent staff will work with you to decide which the best pathway is for you. A typical delivery approach may include between 6-12 days theory training, which include the following Apprenticeship components: • Warehousing & Storage underpinning knowledge – this includes everything a learner needs to carry out a warehousing role to certified Health & Safety regulations. Additionally, learners will learn the key areas of communication, effective working and working relationships. • Employment Rights & Responsibilities - this covers 9 key outcomes including, statutory rights and responsibilities to career pathways and gives Apprentices a wider appreciation of their responsibilities and that of the employer. • Functional Skills in maths and English – a key component of the WAS Apprenticeship which is critical to every organisation’s success. Learners are expected to achieve Level 1 in English and maths, unless they are already recently qualified to this level. We will also encourage learners to progress to Level 2, where appropriate. • Personal Learning & Thinking Skills (PLTS) – learners will fill out an evidence-recording document. This booklet should be updated throughout the life of the Apprenticeship After the successful completion of the theoretical components of the Apprenticeship, learners will be allocated an Assessor who will conduct observations in the workplace. Formal observations and reviews take place every 12-weeks to ensure that learners are making progress towards their learning goals. Reviews also involve the employer, who is able to comment on their employees’ progress.
