In the world of personal training clients are increasingly benefiting from sports massage to improve overall health and fitness and with this qualification you will also enhance opportunities to work with both amateur and professional athletes. Course Content Functional anatomy applied to pre-habilitation and re-habilitation exercise Clinical assessment and client management Clinical applications of sports massage therapy including the role and legal obligations of a sports massage therapist In depth knowledge of anatomy & physiology applied to the principles of sports massage techniques including all of the major body systems skin lymphatic and neuroendocrine systems Massage methods and treatment applications including palpation Effleurage Petrissage Compression Vibration Tapotement and advanced specialised techniques Active and passive range of movement and myofacial chain assessment Soft tissue damage injury and rehabilitation Exercise prescription for sports massage including advanced stretching techniques The course is based at The Hub Fitness Centre and will consist of a series of theoretical and practical workshops Internally assessed worksheets Multiple choice theory papers Internally assessed practical examinations Demonstrations of anatomical landmarks origins and insertions Observation of client management and care Level 4 REPs status. Level 4 Diploma in Specialist Exercise The qualification allows entry on to the Sports Massage Association's (SMA) register at Level 3. Candidates will have the ability to practice as a professional sports massage therapist.
