As an Apprentice you really do get the best of both worlds. You will earn a salary and gain real experience in the workplace with your employer as well as working towards a nationally recognised NVQ and other qualifications. Apprenticeships are suitable for well-motivated people who are focussed and know which career path they want to follow. They offer high quality work-based training as an alternative to full time study. This programme is aimed at people who are employed, or are seeking employment. You will need to be 16 years of age or over. Employment should be for a minimum of 30 hours per week, with training in the workplace. Level 2 covers Assessor visits in the workplace every 3 or 4 weeks Functional Skills in English and maths Employment Rights and Responsibilities Technical Certificate Maintain a safe hygienic and secure working environment Work effectively as part of a hospitality team Maintain food safety when storing preparing and cooking food Maintain, handle and clean knives Plus a selection of other units including working with poultry, vegetables, meat, sauces, fish, desserts and bread products
