Stained Glass

During this course learners will acquire skills which will enable them to make attractive stained glass panel. Using traditional methods, learners will be encouraged to design a panel, select glass and cut it accuretely, lead up, solder, cement and polish individual panels.Techniques such as glass painting and copper foiling are also taught. Learners will be introduced to glass fusing to create small items such as coasters, plates and jewellery. Beginners will make a small leaded panel while returning learners will be able to continue larger projects and develop their skills in this interesting and rewarding craft. The classes also collaborate on group projects and students are encouraged to participate to help broaden their skills.

Entry requirements

Pens (fine permanent marker and thicker 2 mm permanent marker). Float glass to practice cutting (untoughened or green house glass available from ordinary glaziers). About 2 A4 sheets will do. Apron and sensible shoes. As course progresses you may want to purchase your own glass cutter (you will be advised on type suitable for you). As the course progresses students need to provide their own glass, paper, tracing paper, graph paper, craft knife and wire wool (fine grade).
