This flexible course is designed for those who have an interest both in art and in practical skills with the idea of combining the two. You will learn how to cast an object in several materials including alginate, plaster and silicone. You will learn how to work with wire to form armatures to support your work. You will learn how to work with wire, paper and plaster to create 3D models. There will also be an introduction to hand building with clay or wax. The tutor will be on hand to turn your idea, sketch or image into 3D reality, and give one to one support. There will be regular group discussions on the works in progress. The overall aim is to build learners confidence and extend the learners perception of 3D, and how to make concrete their ideas. Please note that we will not be making life size models as this is an introductory course.
