Ever wanted to try making pottery but don't know where to start. This is an ideal course if you want to explore different ways of hand building and decorating ceramics. During this course you will be introduced to the main hand building techniques in ceramics such as press moulding, coiling and slab building. Using a variety of clays you will learn how to make a range of work and be shown simple surface decoration techniques and apply them to the forms you make. Each process and technique will first be demonstrated followed by learners working on their own pieces with tutor support and guidance. There is also the possibility of wheelwork during the course if learners wish to acquire skills in this area or Work will then be bisque fired and ready for learners to glaze throughout the course. Glazing techniques will be shown.
