Drawing and Painting - Working with Landscape

Working with landscape in the studio and if appropriate on location, including measurement, line, tone, colour and composition. Working on a variety of scenes e.g. woodlands, mountains etc. Trying different techniques and colour ranges to convey different seasons and atmospheres. Learn how to edit, rearrange and build a composition. Finding the right medium for a particular landscape. Gain confidence in using both drawing and painting materials and be encouraged to take part in group discussions Have access to one to one support The overall aim is to help you develop personal expression through a mixture of practice, discussion and demonstration techniques.

Entry requirements

Bring whatever drawing and painting materials you may already have purchased or a basic set of acrylic or watercolour paints including brushes, palette, tissues and water jar. If you are not sure bring a pad of A3 cartridge paper, soft grade of pencils (4B or 6B), soft rubber and a graphite stick for the first session. Materials and resources you will need through the course will be discussed at induction. You may also like to bring some of your own photographic images or sketches of landscapes.
