Health and Social Care BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma (in partnership with Handsworth Grange Community Sports College)

This Health and Social Care BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma is delivered jointly by Peaks College and Handsworth Grange Community Sports College and is therefore taught over a split site. Students usually have three college days (two full days at HGCSC and one full day at Peaks), one study day and one work placement day. The course provides you with the knowledge, skills and practical experience to pursue a career in the health and social care sector and provide you with a good foundation for many degree courses. You will learn about developing effective communication, professional development, equality, diversity and rights, life- stage development, psychology and sociology for health and social care, anatomy and physiology, promoting health education, nutrition and public health. Work experience is a compulsory part of the course. The one day a week placement, arranged with you, is tailored to your future employment or higher education progression. Students usually work in nurseries, schools, nursing homes and day centres; hospital placements are limited. All level 3 students must wear a course placement uniform while at their work placement.
